Pilot
Part-time: 6 months per year
Contract: 1-5 years

We require an experienced Pilot to provide input and advise project managers on elements of pilot performance/efficiency that have an influence on airport airside capacity and runway utilisation and participate in assessment exercises at stakeholder airports with regard to pilot reaction and runway occupancy time issues.
The current team comprises project managers, ATC experts, pilots and airport engineer/modelling experts. The appointed Pilot will be required to display a high degree of ability to work on their own initiative as the lead role in many of the tasks described.
The successful candidate will have to take responsibility in analysing the demand/capacity ratio for network constraining airports, bring this information in relation to the delays caused by these airports and propose a course of action to remedy the situation to the project manager.
The Pilot will be providing pilot expertise to further develop the methodology to enhance the efficiency of airside, runway, taxiway and apron operations. This will include developing a set of performance indicators for all ATSPs, aircraft operators and airport operations in order to optimise the use of existing/available capacity or enhance and exploit the latent airside capacity.
They will assist in development of fuel efficiency practices and procedures
including the development of a training module.
Continuous pilot input will be required to support other activities such as A-SMGCS,
Runway Safety, and A-CDM.
Essential:
- At least ten years experience as a professional pilot, preferably with a major airlines into major European airports.
- Sound experience of operations at the major European airports and knowledge of operating procedures of airports outside the ECAC area.
- Ability to produce written technical reports.
- Ability to work in a team with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in airside capacity and efficiency enhancement techniques, and pilot performance enhancement aspects.
- Experience in chairing meetings and liaison with representatives of other organisations, such as Airport Operations.
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge and understanding of air traffic management and air traffic service provision.
- Being knowledgeable in the following areas: Runway Safety, A-SMGCS and A-CDM.
- Proficient in standard Microsoft applications.
- Communication and marketing skills.
The successful candidate will have to perform duties on the airport’s airside. Brussels based, the role will require extensive European travel in order to visit airports throughout the region.
