Description of the business environment:
Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services (IS&GS) is seeking individuals for programmes supplying products, capabilities, and prime system integration services to a variety of UK defence, intel, and Home Office customers. The programmes range from small project teams to large, multi-year contracts with numerous embedded tasks in intelligence systems and mission operations; command and control (C2), ISTAR, and other defence capabilities including tactical data links and network enabled capabilities; and information technology (IT) solutions. These contracts require talented staff capable of lateral thinking to deliver complex, innovative solutions and capabilities.
These programme teams require a range of systems engineering and integration, project management, requirements development, concepts of operations/employment, operational and interoperability analysis, enterprise architectures, roadmaps and acquisition support, and integration and test skills. These teams will be responsible for supporting full life cycle capability delivery across all defence lines of development or capability elements.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assess mission needs and develop detailed programme and delivery plans
- Manage development of integrated master plan and resource loaded schedule for programme
- Support Authority and programme planning meetings
- Produce programme planning documentation based on mission needs, resource plans, stakeholder priorities
- Perform analyses on budgets, plans, schedules, and associated resources
- Collect and analyse earned value data and produce periodic progress reports
- Review, manage, and control programme master schedule and planning reports to Authority
Essential Skills:
- Experience with P3 and MS Project and schedule analysis methods and tools
- Experienced in earned value management methods and tools
- Previous, successful project engineering experience
- Leadership experience
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and customer-facing experience
- Due to the nature of the role performed it is necessary for the applicant to be able to be granted a UK Security clearance at the Developed Vetting stage
Desirable Skills:
- Prince2 certification
- Life cycle costs analysis or portfolio management experience
- Experience with variety of development programme environments
Job Description:
Coordinates planning, organisation, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Plans and formulates engineering programme; reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and drawing releases. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
Typical minimum education & experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
