Programme/Work Environment:
The Swift is a purpose built experimentation and demonstration facility that provides customers with the opportunity to benefit from our System of Systems end to end processes and Systems Engineering experience and capabilities. The Swift team is responsible for the day to day running of the sectors within the Swift facility. All software will be conducted within the formal software life cycle model.
Job Description:
As a Software Integrator working in the Swift you will be required to participate in Swift day to day activities. These shall include but not be limited to, technical interactions with internal/external customers and participation in demonstrations and experimentation.
As preparation for future demonstrations and relevant experiments you will be required to integrate third party application software with open APIs. You will also be required to integrate bespoke Lockheed Martin software into the Swift. Duties will also include development of software to enhance existing technology or introduce new technology into the Swift.
This position will require you to use problem solving skills and work effectively in a fluid, fast paced environment. You will primarily work within Sector A which deals with geospatial intelligence, C4ISTAR and homeland Security.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
- Support the Swift laboratory to facilitate experiments, demonstrations and workshops to internal and external customers.
- Liaise with internal LM colleagues and assist with spiral deployments. Assist in configuration and planning of the laboratories resources.
- Exploitation; troubleshooting, configuration and testing of integrated technologies.
- Analyse problems, discuss requirements with users and produce requirement and technical specifications. Carry out development and testing as required.
Essential Skills
- Flexible approach to Software Integration
- Windows / Linux / Unix
- Willingness to learn and participate in all areas of the administration of the Swift lab, including backup technology, storage devices / systems, operating systems, configuration management, database administration and maintenance.
- Ability to prepare / participate in demonstrations, to learn to exploit new software technologies, both COTS and IRAD. This can include collating documentation, imagery, building scenarios using COTS and IRAD products to create a scenario that illustrates the technological ability within the lab.
- Ability to follow instructions for the installation and exploitation of software, both COTS and IRAD and to present clearly to customers and colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience of unit, system and acceptance testing.
- Some working knowledge of at least 2 of the following Java, Weblogic, C, C++, PL/SQL, tomcat, html, Oracle, MYSQL.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with web development / SOA / configuration.
- Familiarity of Database (relational and file based) administration.
